New online booking system available

 

Taff Rocks @ Smyrna is trialling a new online booking system. We have been researching many systems for some months in order to find what we need and at the best annual cost for the charity, and we believe we have found one. It is hoped that you find this easier and it will mean less administration of a process that should have always been simple.

Of course, there are some that ask for bookings in person, we can still accommodate this but we book  online for you and you will still receive the automated confirmation emails. So try it out.

Always check your junk / spam boxes for the confirmation emails.

How it works now compare to how it's worked up until now:

Now:

• You go here
• You select your time slot 
• Slots already booked are not shown to prevent double booking
• Fill in your details and
• Confirm
• Your booking is then entered directly into our calendar pending 'accept'
• No one else can book over this slot
• You will receive an automated email when this is done.
• The new automated email also offers the option for you to reschedule or cancel your booking

Before:

• You'd checked the calendar
• You'd selected your preferred time
• You opened up the long online form with all your details
• Or you filled in a paper form
• You'd submit the form or email it to us
• Admin would manually check the online calendar then ...
• Manually enter your booking into our calendar
• Admin would email you with your confirmation.
• If you needed to reschedule, you email us, we'd manually deal with your request 

A recent technical issue meant we we late in confirming a booking, although this went by without any issues.

So, give it a go. It no longer means you or us have to check everything beforehand, it's all automated, but we still get to see hands on who's supporting us.

Private Rock Painting Parties

The Smyrna Chapel Community Hall and Taff Rocks are pleased to announce the new private rock painting sessions for you and your party of friends, relatives, colleagues etc becoming available for anyone to book from the 1st October 2022.

These private bookings can accommodate up to 20 painters

We have a growing selection of donated books that are free for our local and wider community to benefit from.

Monthly Drop-In Recycling

All members of our local and wider communities are welcome to drop in and recycle their small household items with us for FREE!

Building can hold 29 seated, 24 on black seats, 4 in the 'social corner' and one in the 'book nook' area. 

There are six tables, 6 feet long and one round 'dining' table in the social corner.

The building also hosts a kitchen with a microwave and countertop oven (we have decommissioned the cooker), tea and coffee facilities, refrigerator, dinner service and cutlery.

For meetings or community education, the hall has a 6 foot dry-wipe marker board as well as the same size notice board.

Two toilets, one of which is accessible and has a baby changing unit.

Accessible ramp at the side of the building, which is currently used as the 'front door' for ease of entry for everyone.

With the installation of a new refreshment station, situated under the grey notice board, the current images require updating.

Preparations for a drop-in Open Day are happening

This is so exciting! Ahead of the building becoming available for hire on Monday 25th April, we are holding a 'drop-in' open day.

You are welcome to submit a booking application for hire before this for any date available from the 25th onward.

The former Smyrna Chapel is available to hire by any individual, group, organisation or business for your own activities such as:

• Meetings, formal and informal
• Craft group / activity
• Coffee mornings / afternoons
• Mobile play groups

And so much more. Regular bookings are welcomed.
